The short answer is: Yes, discounts are a good idea!
And there are several types of discounts that will attract customers. But don't rely solely on them as a strategy to get people to buy your brand.
Doing it too often will shift the focus from the 'brand' to the 'price' and this could very well make your brand synonymous with being known as "devalued" or even "cheap".
So be strategic about when and how you offer discounts to new customers and don't forget about your current customers. Often times I'll see companies offer discounts to new customers which is a great way to welcome them into the family with hopes you'll retain them. But the ones that are already there, being loyal to your brand and even turning into advocates of it, deserve to receive your loyalty in the form of special treatments, too.
